Understanding Date Arithmetic: Months vs Days

A common source of confusion: "3 months from January 31" is not the same as "90 days from January 31." Three calendar months from January 31 is April 30 (since February 28/29 and March 31 don't extend to match). Ninety days from January 31 would be May 1. Contracts and legal documents should specify which convention applies to avoid disputes — "30 calendar days" (counting every day) vs "30 business days" (Monday–Friday only, excluding holidays) can differ by 10+ days.
